Biography

After a brief tenure at the University of Bridgeport, Dr Shaukat Ali joined the industry and worked in drug discovery and formulation development. He has over 22 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industries including 12 years at BASF, where he supports solubilization, instant and modified release platforms, and APIs. Dr Ali’s areas of expertise include solid dispersions, liposomes, drug design and delivery, controlled release, transdermal, and film development technologies.

Dr. Ali is a member of the editorial advisory boards of American Pharmaceutical Reviews, Biopharma Asia, Contract Pharma, Drug Delivery & Development, International Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation and Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacology. He is a member of expert panel for Pharmaceutical Technology-Sourcing and Management, and also USP panel of expert for General Chapters-Physical Analysis.

He received his PhD in Chemistry from the City University of New York and pursued his postdoctoral interest at the University of Minnesota and Cornell University. He has authored over 37 scientific articles and is co-inventor in 14 US patents.

Biography

Kumar is Associate Professor of Radiology and Ohio Molecular Imaging Scholar at the Ohio State University. He is also Director of Laboratory for Translational Research in Imaging Pharmaceuticals of Wright Center of Innovation in Biomedical Imaging. He came to the Ohio State University after working in pharmaceutical industry for more than 20 years. In pharmaceutical industry, he provided strategic and tactical leadership to a global pharmaceutical R&D groups, supporting development, registrations, and commercialization of numerous novel and generic drugs.

He received his PhD from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (India) and worked as a researcher in academics at Wayne State University and Purdue University between 1980 and 1987. He worked at National Cancer Institute between 1987 and 1988 as a Senior Staff Fellow in developing radiolabeled antibodies for diagnosis and therapy of cancer. Between 1989 and 2008, he worked in various capacities in pharmaceutical industry, including research scientist at Bristol Myers Squibb and Bracco Diagnostics, Director, Reference Standards Laboratory of USP, Executive Director of Pharmaceutical Product Development of Merial Ltd, and Vice President of R&D, Luna NanoWorks.

He has published numerous papers in the field of MRI contrast agents. He was guest editor for Diagnostics- Special Edition on NMR in Medicine and serving on the editorial board of Journal of Radiation Oncology and Journal of Analytical and Pharmaceutical Research. He also served on the USP’s committee’s for monograph and standards development. He has been invited speaker in national and international meetings and academic environments and organized numerous workshops and sessions.
