bHLH is the second largest family of transcription factors in eukaryotes after MYB (myeloblastosis), and plays an important role in plant growth. In order to understand the current status, hotspots and future trends of bHLH transcription factor research at home and abroad, we analyzed the relevant literature from 2010 to 2025 by using bibliometrics with the keywords “bHLH” and “plant”. The results showed that: (1) the number of bHLH transcription factors published in English literature increased steadily and showed a rapid development trend, while the number of publications in Chinese literature was relatively stable; (2) the relatively high proportion of scholars and institutions from China in the foreign literature provides the most direct clue for rapid targeting of bHLH-related research; (3) most of the transgenic plants studied have been carried out in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana, and fewer in the native plants.
