Abstract

Brevundimonas spp. (species) is gram negative, aerobic and non-fermentative bacilli, causing nosocomial infections. The infection with Brevundimonas spp. was defined mostly in immunocompromised patient. However, there are isolated Brevundimonas infection reports in immunocompetent patients too. Most common infections are bacteremia, septicemia, urinary tract infection, and peritonitis. Lower respiratory tract infections are very rare, and so far, only one empyema, one pleuritis and two pneumonia cases were reported. Co-infection of Brevundimonas spp with some other bacterias is possible. Acinetobacter and Brevundimonas spp coinfection was reported in urinart tract infection but not in the lung before. Here we report an immunocompetent patient with a cavitary lesion in the lung, that was caused by co-infection of Brevundimonas spp and Acinetobacter Johnsonii.
